Mr. Triebwasser,
Times being what they are, I cannot support your candidicy for the B.O.E. Having other members of your family employed in the school district,as well as yourself, makes me wonder if you could make fair decisions on school board matters. As with Mr. Golden, you too are probably a good guy, but we can’t keep electing self serving candidates! You also support the current, proposed school budget and that’s a deal breaker!

I have known Jonathan for a very long time. He would give his shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. He always finishes what he starts and really cares for this town, and kids in our schools. This man has a heart of gold and would fight to better the schools in this township. He had a dual roll when he worked for the board of education here, and I don’t think anyone could handle the two positions as well as he did.

you say he cares about our town ,then let me ask why does he not work here,he did and now he left.how is that caring???????? if he stayed and then agreed to a pay freeze of his own ,it would show me leadership , but did he leave so no one would ask him to lead by example ? i am not a gov employee , so for the regular guy its tough out there , how can a gov employ that cant be laid off know how tax payers feel ,i guess when my mom told me to go to college she was wrong ,i should have worked for the government

This is in response to “Mitch”. As much as I appreciate your support for Mr Triebwasser, I cannot in good faith agree with your comments. I had a transportation problem a few years back and Mr Triebwasser was anything but helpful. He actually went out of his way to be rude, arogant and really had very little concern for the safety of children walking to and from their bus stops or schools. I personally do not know the man nor do I care to after the 35 minute conversation we had over the phone. I hope the person who wins the seat is someone who is actually willing to help the children within the township. I cannot say I had that experience with Mr Triebwasser at all. And from what I have heard after my experience, many others were disappointed in how Mr Triebwasser handled their situations also. Good Luck to all the canidates and I hope the new board will do the best they can do.
Thanks

Mr. Triebwasser:
I’m sorry to say this, but as others above have mentioned, how “dedicated” can you be to Woodbridge, considering you left last year to accept an identical position in Point Pleasant? Further, how impartial can you be with two relatives working in the district-as teachers, no less? Allow me to address both issues…
First, the job switch. Perhaps you saw the “writing on the wall” last summer (economically speaking), and made a “lateral” move. But, it just doesn’t seem right-until an observant person like me notes that Pt. Pleasant’s superintendent is one Vincent Smith-Woodbridge’s former superintendent…and I further noted that Pt. Pleasant’s district has approx. 3500 students-less than ONE-THIRD that of Woodbridge; yet, you’re receiving a similar compensation package ($87,000 salary; 20 days/FOUR weeks’ vacation; FOURTEEN sick days; and 4 personal days). I know of very few private sector folks, even with your “responsibilities”, that get those sort of perks. I also find it ironic that Mr. Smith pulls a higher salary ($194,200) than Mr. Crowe…and has an “assistant” super as well!
Second, the impartiality factor. As is the case throughout EVERY part of the Woodbridge Township “employment structure”-BOE, Town Hall, Public Works, Fire & Police-the taxpayers of Woodbridge have seen enough of the nepotism and “buddy” network that is rampant. Since your wife and niece are teachers, how can you impartially and unemotionally make budget or administrative decisions that may impact them? Worse yet, you are certainly not the only candidate, board member, or township employee in this situation; I’d wager that at least 20% of township workers are related to each other, or got their position through a relative.
I would appreciate a response indicating your reasons for accepting the position in Pt. Pleasant, as well clearly expressing how you would handle a personnel situation involving a relative.

I have known Jonathan for about 6 years now. I have never in my entire life seen a person more dedicated and caring. I completely agree with Mitch! I don’t think anyone above with their negative comments really understand what is best for Woodbridge. I am sick and tired of voting for individuals that just care about money and power! Ridiculous! For once I see a man who honestly cares about other people needs before his very own! I completely stand by Jonathan Triebwasser!

Justice – I dont doubt that Triebwasser is a caring and dedicated person. And I dont think anyone is trying to be negative towards him as a person – I think we are trying to be realistic about this whole thing. The biggest issue for me is that he has a wife and niece who work for the school district. Lets be honest, he is going to vote in favor of his family members every time. I dont think that is in the best interest of Woodbridge. But hey, that is just my opinion.

Realistically “most people” would vote in favor of their wife and niece. I understand where you are coming from. I need everyone to know that Jonathan Triebwasser is absolutely far from “most people”! He has always looked in favor of the community & his wife and niece are supportive of his decisions! Spend 5 minutes with Jonathan and you will realize what a remarkable person he is! It would be a true disappointment to let your prejudice come in the way of a true hero!

Let’s face it with the School District the largest employer in town it is hard to find someone that doesn’t have a relative employed here. But Jon has always worked to save money and make the district more efficient. In fact I suspenct that is why he was forced out! I’m for Triebwasser.

To the new candidates for the B.O.E. in Woodbridge:
Let me ask all of you a hypothetical question.
If the now proposed school budget is defeated, will you new candidates vote to cut the budget, as recommended by the taxpayers, or will you rubber stamp the budget as originally submitted?
I know our town council gets involved and has a chance to reduce the budget,as well, but that’s another area where we have to speak up and demand that they listen to the people.
I, for one, hope they don’t do like the congress did by ignoring a majority of the people and voted the way they wanted to on the health plan. Be damn the taxpayers! This attitude starts at the top and seems to go right down to the local level.
We have to stop them somewhere!
If possible, I’d like to hear some of your answers to these questions.

There is no doubt this man is honest, caring and for the children! Dont bash the man for ending his employment with Woodbridge rather Praise him for trying to make changes on the Board !

NONE of the candidates running for BOE bring anything of substance to the table. Not one of them has stated what they would actually do to improve the budget situation in Woodbridge and maintain the quality of the school system. What NEEDS to happen is a full scale reform of teachers and administrative salaries and benefits based on pay for performance and not just showing up for work. This needs to happen statewide but why not start in Woodbridge. That being said, the incumbents are a known evil and add in the inherent conflict of interest for some individuals like Mr. Treibwasser and I would rather give the outsiders a chance…though I think will just use the write-in and vote for myself.
CorporateAmerica 3:56 pm on April 19, 2010 Permalink
rc1991 – give Reinhart a shot.
Right now, she is the only one who has voiced that she understands that the WB taxpayers NEED TAX RELIEF and the conflict of interest in us voting for candidates that have family working for the district itself.
For these simple reasons, I will vote for her and only her.

Spot-on comment. As I mentioned elsewhere, I’ve known John Golden for a long time; and while I do not know Mr. Triebwasser, whether he’s the nicest guy on the planet does not matter.
The bottom line is simple: ANY decisions, opinions, or votes from either Mr. Golden, Mr. Small, or Mr. Triebwasser, even if the “proper” ones, will be colored with the taint of a conflict of interest…which would be unfortunate.
However, I can’t help but notice that these 3 public employees are running on the same ticket-sponsored by the Woodbridge Democratic machine…the same machine that help put us in this mess to begin with. Sorry gents, you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Cheermom, Mr. Triebwasser may indeed be all 3 of the qualities you mention. HOWEVER, he, along with his fellow running mates, has so far declined to reply to any comments here-there are many, and they’re relevant! He has made this choice; I, and I’m sure many voters, want to know what he would do if a situation arose that would impact his relatives…also, there’s been no explanation regarding his departure from the Woodbridge BOE last year. Here’s my concern about that subject: Is Mr. Triebwasser more concerned about doing a good job as a board member-or perhaps his decisions would be framed in the sense of getting “payback”.
Time is getting short-as I write this, there’s just about 21 hours until the polls open. Unless Mr. Triebwasser and his mates can provide some answers in that time frame, there’s no chance they’ll receive a vote from me.
Then again, I’m confident that the Democratic lemmings known as township voters will vote this slate in, as usual…however, I pray that my confidence is misplaced, and my fellow voters prove me wrong!

“Is Mr. Triebwasser more concerned about doing a good job as a board member-or perhaps his decisions would be framed in the sense of getting “payback”.”
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? “payback” Once again you have no clue who Jonathan Triebwasser is! He is the only man in a political position I would trust! We actually have the opportunity to vote for the most genuine person I know! It would be a shame to let Mr Triebwasser go! I have seen politicians makes promises over and over, but who has actually kept their promise? I am absolutely positive that Jonathan Triebwasser will make the right decision and will NEVER break a promise!!!

You, “mitch”, and “cheermom” sound awfully like the same person…same words (caring, honest, genuine)…and calling him a “hero”? You’re kidding, right? How come 99.99% of Woodbridge outside of Colonia HS doesn’t know of this guy outside of his employment with the BOE?
Again, I reiterate: Those candidates who have chosen to ignore the questions presented here will not get my vote…provide some answers to them (departure/handling of family employees), and I’ll consider him. Time’s a-wasting…

It’s funny, I don’t know “mitch”, and “cheermom” but I do know Jonathan and it seems that they do as well. Why don’t you ask him the questions you would like to ask him, instead of prejudging him based on where he lives and who his family is!
mike91163 10:24 pm on April 20, 2010 Permalink
Justice:
Well, umm, on April 12th, I DID ask him a couple of questions…and-what’s this from the top of the page?
“At the end of the post, you can leave any questions you’d like Mr. Triebwasser to answer and we’ll do our best to see that he gets them.”
Well, either the THNT failed to “get” the questions to him, or Jonathan hasn’t bothered to check here at all.
Ironic, though, that both Tom Maras and Scott Brescher BOTH replied and participated in some discussions here in their respective articles. I would think that given the current crisis, and the voters placing far more importance upon their votes this year than others, that the candidates would take the time to peruse this online “forum”. Yet, none of the three Democrat-sponsored candidates did so-coincidence? Hardly! The Woodbridge Democratic machine figured they still had a “shoe-in” with their voters; as of 10:30 this evening, still no word on results. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that people voted with their heads and not their party affiliation. We’ll see…
