Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus honor Woodbridge police, fire, rescue squad officials
WOODBRIDGE, NJ -- A township police officer, firefighter and EMT received Shield Awards from the Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus Council 9199 during its annual awards dinner on Wednesday, June 16.
The recipients were Patrick Kenny of the Woodbridge Township Police Department, Carmine Minnella of the Fords Fire Company and John Careccia for the Woodbridge Township Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
Kenny has been a member of the Police Department since 1985, serving as an auxiliary police officer then a special police officer. Pat is the township emergency management coordinator.
Minnella has been an active member of the Fords Fire Company in Fire District No. 7 since 1989. He served as chief in 1998, 2006 and 2009. Carmine takes an active roll in teaching fire prevention in schools and the community.
Careccia is a Fords resident who became a volunteer with the rescue squad in 1993. He has served on the board of directors as treasurer and vice president. He is currently the squad training officer and chairman of the membership committee and a certified EMT.
Lorraine Clark received an award for Teacher of the Year award at Our Lady of Peace School. Clark was honored for her dedication and devotion to the children, especially in the area of religious education.
A gift of a deacon’s stole was presented to two brother Knights, Jim Kelly and John Raychel, who have been ordained as permanent deacons for Our Lady of Peace parish.
