Maras: Will Woodbridge schools’ food service company get it right?

by Tom Maras on Sep 29th | Email

Chartwells is nearing its first 30 days of food service to students and staff at the Woodbridge Township School System.

Reportedly, comments from the cafeteria staff, students, teachers and even some of our BOE members, this major education service organization, Chartwells, has yet to get it right.

Specifically:

• Meals are late and our kids don’t get severed in time to eat a meal without rushing.

• Some meals, like pizza, are handled, even tasted by other children and put back on the serving tray.
Sour milk and sour sweet potatoes were served to students and teachers.

• Cafeteria works are being placed in the schools, who have yet to pass a background check.

• School cafeterias do not have enough supervisory staff to ensure good quality food and service?

• Is Chartwells saving the parents’ of the school children and our community taxpayers money or are we going in the wrong direction?

• Is the BOE still confident Chartwells’ service is better and more cost effective than the service our own cafeteria staff was ready, willing and able to supply, had they been given the opportunity?

Please, talk to your children, friends and other parents about these issues. If you find one or more of the above mentioned comments are applicable, contact the BOE! Let them know, the parents, taxpayers and students will not settle for inadequate services.

We want, no, we demand the services that were promised when Chartwells proposal was chosen over our “Mom’s” proposal!
