Woodbridge crime: Marijuana seized from car, Iselin home
WOODBRIDGE, NJ --Investigators arrested a township man earlier this month after seeing 3 pounds of marijuana in "plain view" on his passenger's seat during a traffic stop, officials said.
Phuoc Pham, 36, is charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.
Officers spotted the marijuana on the passenger's seat of Pham's Toyota 4Runner during the traffic stop at 8 p.m. Jan. 14, Sgt. Brian Murphy said. Police then received permission to search his home, where they found another 4 pounds of the drug, Murphy said.
The street value of the seized marijuana is $35,000, Murphy said.
Bail was set at $200,000, he said.
The arrest was made by the Woodbridge police Special Investigations Unit. The location of the traffic stop and his home were not immediately available.
$100G in cash, pot found
A township man faces drug charges after investigators seized $23,000 worth of marijuana and $76,000 in cash from his Iselin home earlier this month, police said.
Tejash Patel, 23, was charged with possession and distribution of marijuana and distribution near a school zone and public property, police said.
Investigators went to a home on Edgewood Avenue in Colonia just after midnight Jan. 14, after a caller expressed concern about a lot of traffic there, police said. After receiving consent to search the home, officers from the department's Special Investigations Unit found a small amount of marijuana and arrested two people.
During the investigation, a "known drug dealer" identified as Patel, walked into the home with a small bag of marijuana, Sgt. Brian Murphy said. Officers received consent to search his vehicle and found more marijuana, and then searched his home on West James Place in the township's Iselin section.
That led investigators to find 4.5 pounds of marijuana and $76,000 in suspected drug proceeds at the home, Murphy said. The street value of the marijuana is about $23,000.
Patel was arrested and taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $25,000 bail. A jail records official said he was released later that day.
Arrested at the first home were Ashely Antonoff, 20, of Colonia, and Christie Oliver, 20, of Avenel, Murphy said. They were given summonses for possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
