Woodbridge crime: Car stolen from church parking lot in Iselin; burglary at home for sale

WOODBRIDGE, NJ --A township man returned Wednesday to find his car had been stolen from a church parking lot on Oak Tree Road, police said.

The 29-year-old victim told police he parked his 2010 BMW 535 outside the First Presbyterian Church at
noon Jan. 20. It was missing when he returned about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The car is worth about $40,000, according to a police report.

Pathmark worker's car stolen

A woman's car was stolen early Wednesday morning while she was at work at Pathmark in the township's Avenel section, police said.

The 2000 Subaru was taken between 4 and 7:30 a.m. from outside the St. Georges Avenue store, the victim told police. The woman, 55, told police she works the night shift and cannot see into the parking lot because metal gates block the store windows.

GPS unit, radio stolen

An Avenel man on Saturday found his radio console and Global Positioning System unit missing after someone broke into his car on Village Drive, police said.

The 33-year-old victim told police someone broke the small side window of his 2000 Nissan Sentra between noon Jan. 25 and about noon Saturday. The burglar took the in-dash Pioneer radio and the Garmin Nuvi GPS unit.

TV taken from vacant home

A television was found stolen Sunday from a home that is for sale on Third Avenue, police said.

The theft occurred some time after noon Jan. 20, according to the son of the home's former owner. The man was checking on the home around 12:30 p.m. Sunday when he discovered that the television had been removed from the bedroom.

He also found a clock removed from one of the walls and placed on the floor, he told police.

The value and description of the television was not known.

Car vandalized in Woodbridge

A township woman awoke Monday to find that someone had slashed the tires and smashed the driver's-side window of her car, police said.

The vandalism on Bunns Lane occurred between 4 p.m. Sunday and 10:30 a.m. Monday, the 57-year-old victim told police. Her 1999 Ford Escort was damaged while it was parked in a handicapped-parking space outside her building.

The victim said the same thing happened in September, police said.
