Driver killed in Route 27 crash; man killed crossing Route 1

WOODBRIDGE, NJ -- A 37-year-old New York man died Saturday trying to cross Route 1 while a 24-year old Carteret resident died Sunday after his car crashed into a tree in Colonia, police said.
Police believe Michael P. Rosinski attempted to cross the busy seven lanes of Route 1 about 11:11 p.m. Saturday, jumping the concrete divider, near Lafayette Road and the White Castle restaurant.
Rosinsiki was struck on the northbound side by a Nissan sedan driven by a 23-year-old man from Basking Ridge, who police said will not be charged with any crime. Rosinski was pronounced dead on the scene, said Sgt. Eric Nelson.
On Sunday Gurjit G. Singh lost control of his Mustang, crashing into trees along the southbound side of Route 27 near New Dover Road, Nelson said.
Police responded about 5:28 p.m. and found the car jammed between trees. Singh was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers, Nelson said.
