Angela Sinnis: Why I’m voting for Jean Pierce in Democratic primary
EDITOR'S NOTE: Angela Sinnis submitted this to the Home News Tribune in support of Jean Pierce, the only candidate running against the four Democratic council incumbents in the June primary.
I'm a voter in Woodbridge, and this year in the Democratic primary, I'm supporting Jean Pierce, Democrat for Working Families. Jean is a grassroots candidate running for At-Large Council and her name will appear on Line B.
Jean has lived in Woodbridge for more than 20 years and has been active in the communioty just as long. She has been a strong advocate for our libraries, arts and historic sites—all the things that make Woodbridge a great town. She has sat on various commissions, including the Sewaren Library Board where she fought tirelessly to keep the library open when it was facing budget cuts.
Jean is a single mom of two sons—18 and 23 years old. She credits her children's success in school to the extensive time they spent at the library. Jean knows the key to our children's success is a comprehensive learning environment, which includes library science, arts, music and sports. Jean is committed to advocating on behalf of our children, for strong public schools, well-resourced libraries, and actively opposes any voucher initiatives, which take away taxpayer funds from our public schools.
We need a strong, independent leader in Town Hall who will fight to protect what matters to working families and our children. This Primary Day, June 7, I'm asking your readers to support Jean Pierce for Woodbridge At-Large Council on Line B.
