Early dismissal for Woodbridge schools because of heat wave Wednesday
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — School districts around the state are announcing early dismissals Wednesday so students and employees can escape the record-breaking heat wave forecast for the region.
Woodbridge announced Tuesday night that the high schools will dismiss students at 12:10 p.m., the middle schools at 12:45, elementary schools at 1:10 p.m and kindergarten classes at 11:35 a.m. Morning pre-school will end at 11:35 a.m. while afternoon pre-school was moved to 10:30 a.m. with a 1:10 p.m. dismissal.
The National Weather Service today issued heat advisories and warnings for the Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore and New York City metro areas for Wednesday and Thursday. The high heat and humidity can be dangerous in buildings without air-conditioning.
The heat advisory for New Jersey said the most dangerous conditions for the elderly, infirm, children and pets will be in the afternoon and early evening. Officials urge people to remain in shaded or air-conditioned locations.

I dunno…I graduated Woodbridge High School in ’81, and somehow, someway, we managed to survive plenty of very uncomfortable hot days throughout my 3 years there…
The KEY word in the blurb above is “EMPLOYEES”…I wonder how much pressure the WTA put on the district.
